Zoo-keepers are on hand to talk about the animals which include kangaroos, wallabies, dingoes, wombats, reptiles, monkeys and birds. The staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about native animals. The zoo is relatively small which means the staff are able to spend one-on-one time with visitors and visitors can spend plenty of one-on-one time with the animals!
There are regular feeding sessions each day where you can hand feed kangaroos, wallabies, birds and plenty of other cute and cuddly animals. When you’ve had enough of feeding the animals, you can enjoy a great feed yourself! The zoo has extensive picnic grounds and free barbeque facilities – there’s also a playground for the kids.
The zoo is easily accessible, sitting just off the main road from Cessnock to Hunter Valley Wine Country. It is closed on Wednesdays and also takes group and special event bookings. Family passes and concession rates are available.
