Hunter Valley Orientation  


The Hunter Valley, two hours north of Sydney, is the oldest commercial wine-producing area in Australia and a commercial coal mining area.

Newcastle is situated at the mouth of the Hunter River ; Lake Macquarie at the southern end is the biggest city. Other major cities of the Hunter Valley are Maitland, Morpeth, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Singleton, Scone and Muswellbrook. Explore rugged mountains and the spectacular rainforests of the World Heritage Barrington Tops National Park.

Aberdeen
Aberdeen is between Scone and Muswellbrook on the Upper Hunter Wine Trail with the Rosemount Estate. To the North East is the Rouchel Road scenic drive and the Hunter Valley Museum of Rural Life and Lake Glenbawn.
