Muswellbrook train station is serviced by City Rail and Country Link trains and the New England Highway and the Golden Highway connect the area to Newcastle and inner west New South Wales respectively.
Visitors to the area can see the Regional Arts Centre, take the 4.5 kilometre Heritage Walk, take a drive to nearby towns including Singleton, Murrurundi, Barrington Tops and Scone, or visit one of the Upper Hunter Vineyards.
National Parks, State Forests, nature reserves and wilderness areas encircle Muswellbrook and it is the perfect base for experiencing stunning natural landscapes at their best. In summertime, it can get very hot and humid, so taking refuge under the shady forest canopies is an appealing option!
There are a number of dining and accommodation options. Be sure to book your accommodation ahead, particularly mid-week, as the town fills to the brim with contract miners working in the coal fields or at one of the two large coal-fired power plants nearby.
