Rainforest and shrubland and eucalypt forest home to the Hastings River Mouse and parma wallaby.
Bushwalking, picknic and birdwatching are good activities in the Mount Royal National Park. Views can be had from Pieres Peak near Youngville picnic area.
The picnic area and camping area off Mount Royal has gas barbeques and toilets.
Access is by unsealed road which is difficult in the wet season and is 50km north of
Singleton and enter from Bridgeman Road off the New England Highway.
