If you’ve got plenty of energy and strong legs, cycling is a unique way to see the Hunter Valley! There are a few options for hiring bikes including Hunter Valley Cycling and Grapemobile Bicycle Hire. Hire is usually for a minimum of one day.
Hire usually includes delivery of your bike to your
accommodation, a cycling map, helmet and the option of roadside assistance should you be unlucky enough to get a flat tyre! You can choose from single and tandem mountain bikes and children’s bikes are also available.
Most of the vineyards and restaurants have plenty of space for you to safely secure your bike. The only challenge you’ll have is where to put all the wine you buy! Some of the roads around
Hunter Valley Wine Country are gravel or dirt which makes riding a little more hazardous. There are also a few roads with lots of gaping pot holes.
Remember, bicycle riders are subject to similar laws as car drivers when it comes to drink driving. If you’re doing any wine tasting make sure you are under the limit before getting back on your bike and don’t forget that your helmet must be worn at all times while you’re on your bike.
